2017 Ford Explorer Sport 55K miles
New to the forums and hope I'm putting this in the right place. A bit of a long story which includes, by far, the worst experience I've ever had with a dealership service department. I'll spare some of those details.
About 300 miles into a 800 mile road trip I noticed that I lost power on the highway. Once up to cruising speeds it was acting normal, but was shifting hard to get there. I get to a stopping point and let it rest for about an hour and go fill up on gas. When doing that I notice gray smoke coming from the exhaust. At that point I wasn't going any further and continued the road trip in a different car. Have it towed to the dealership where they eventually diagnose it as a PCV value issue, which was somehow not covered under the powertrain warranty.
Upon picking up the car they tell me they have the smoke fixed, but still have performance issues. They tell me the performance will improve the longer I drive it. Not loving the idea of driving 300 miles home with it I asked them what to do. They tell me to drive home and if it still has issues take it to my local dealership. "I give you a 70/30 chance of making it home." Greeeeeat. So, I drive home. This was 5 days ago. The performance isn't better and the smoke isn't fixed. Monday is the earliest I could get into my local dealership when setting the appointment this last Monday.
Coolant and oil aren't leaking. First thing I checked because of a gasket fear. Those levels are normal. It wasn't overheating. There are no check engine lights.
I'm not sure what other details would be helpful. Any thoughts on what I might be dealing with?
