My explorer is running great. Smooth idle, great starts, and i cant believe the mileage i get on the highway. I have a 98 EB v8, drove 400 miles and averaged 20.2 mpg while driving only 50-55 mph through a snow storm, and 19.8 mpg with cruise set on 74, using 87 octane. A week before my trip, my check engine light came on. Since it was still running fine, didnt think it was a problem, but wanted peice of mind so i brought it to the shop. Mechanic turned off the light, told me it was a sensor tripping but since its running fine i shouldnt worry about it. Drove about 350 miles, then the light came back on the day before my trip. Oh well, i drove anyways with the light on the whole way. now about 750 miles later the light remains on. My engine isnt running lean or anything, as i am monitoring the scent of the exhaust. Should i worry about anything? Truck doesnt need to be inspected for 10 more months.. I was thinking about cleaning my MAF, but at the same time i dont really have a reason to since everything is running ok. Eh, i just want the light off. Annoys me. If i had to replace sensors, how easy is it to do yourself? Never worked on a SUV, just my 03 civic that i traded in for this.. oh by the way, truck has 74,800 on the dash..
