'94 Explorer XLT
Hey everyone. I'm really glad I found this site as I'm pretty positive that I'll be visiting this site quite often. Here's the story;

I bought a '94 Explorer XLT 6 weeks ago and it runs fine. I am in the process of replacing all the vacuum lines and rubber components under the hood. There's a part that is mounted on a bracket underneath the IAC valve. I've flipped through every page of the Chilton's manual and can't find that part. Could someone please tell me what that part is and its function? I'd surely appreciate it.

I'm not too familiar with the first gen's OHV's.. but I think what your talking about is called a DPFE Sensor, it has two 1/4-1/2in rubber tubes plugged to it?

I could be wrong though, take a pic and post it up, someone will know what it is!

p.s. Welcome to the forums!

Just searched the forum, and that's exactly what it is. Now that I know, I can replace it first thing tomorrow. Thanks a lot.

Keep in mind that some of the aftermarket DPFE's don't last very long it seems- if you can get one with a warranty, do it- or spend the extra for a Motorcraft one...
