Hello all,
New guy here from Sacramento, CA.

Just bought a 1999 Explorer for my trips to the mountains and rivers. I always like to learn a bit about the car I'm driving, so thought I'd pick a forum and hang out. I still have to figure out what exactly I have, what the important parts are, etc - so I'll be reading the forums and maybe asking a question or two. I have never owned an Explorer, but have rented plenty of them back in the 90's while living in Alaska. Always loved them, so it was my first choice when I decided to get an SUV for camping.

Any pertinent resources and websites I should be following would be appreciated.

When you say you'd like to learn about the car you're driving, that's a little vague....anything in particular you're looking for info on?

This website has tons of info on just about everything you can think of and things that might not have even ever crossed your mind...can probably get you a few links if we know what you want to know!

No, nothing particular to start out with. Just reading up on what everyone talks about, things they like, etc. Just getting to know the explorer and maybe stay ahead of any problems, or maybe even try my hand at a repair or two. I'm not a mechanic, so will keep to the simple stuff if I do attempt anything. Again, I just like to know things - and I'm sure I'll find plenty to read about here. It's good to have a place to ask questions when they arise - as they always do.

So far I'm really happy with my purchase. Seems well maintained and very clean. Will take it in for a check up first chance I get and hope for few if any concerns. Just wanted to introduce myself and say Heya.
