grey substance in exhaust

I was looking at my exhaust the other day and it was raining some and noticed in a puddle of water from my exhaust there was some kind of grey stuff dripping out. Is this just carbon buildup? I have just never noticed this before. Major

Probably just carbon and water, nothing to worry about.
