Grill Guard questions

I have a 05 Trac and I really want to get a grill guard on the front. One thing i was thinking of doing though, was removing my front bumper and then also adding in one of the plates on the front of the truck that goes under the guard. I just dont know what those are called or where i could find some really good looking ones.

I want something like that flat metal peace going down into the truck, but a little bit wider and better looking.

Can anybody help me out?

You might want to do a search for skid plates, I have seen several on this forum. But I don't know much about them.

On the Sport Trac the plastic front cover(fascia) would need to be cut to do what you want to do.

In this picture of my truck you can see what's left of the steel reinforcement bar that sits behind the plastic front cover. And I have cut my plastic cover leaving a gap between it and the reinforcement bar.

Is it hard to cut the front cover or no?

and that pic from dixonbros is pretty much exactly what i want except with thicker bars. i feel like those thin bars would look real weird...any suggestions?

I think I used my dremel tool with a cutting disk.
