I have a '94 Explorer XLT and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a good quality grille guard/brush guard that'll fit this model with reasonable installation. I've scouted the net endlessly looking at hundreds of guards and some are too expensive and some don't fit the older model Explorers.
Also, I have two quick questions: My engine and oil lights have been going on and off repeatedly, I suspect something's wrong with the computer because nothing seems to be wrong mechanically, any ideas? The speedometer sometimes buzzes at 50+ mph and then settles down at lower speeds, any ideas?
Sorry about all the questions, hope somebody can help, thanks!

Regarding the grill guard, try using the search function. You'll find people with Manik, Go Rhino, Westin, and others. There doesn't seem to be a favorite, in my mind. They're all expensive for full grill guards; you just have to watch Ebay or look for one in this board's "for sale, trade, wanted" section.

Regarding the check engine light: Run the EEC-IV self-tests (www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html) and see what codes (if any) the computer gives.
I don't think the computer has anything to do with the oil light on these. Maybe some other electrical fault causing this problem. Or maybe the oil pressure/level really is low.

I just put a guard on my 94 and it was pretty easy to install. I bought it used so I don't know who made it but it looks like the one on Explorer Express. I have pics in my sig.
