Dash light(speedometer)problem! Help! '97 Limited

In my '97 Limited Explorer, my speedometer lights from about the 50mph mark to the 100+mph mark are super dim and almost completely out. All the fuses seem to be fine. At one point, I hit the dashboard with my hand and they came back on for about 5 minutes. I haven't yet taken apart the dash to see if anything is loose or if there is a bad solder. (I just had to re-solder the LOM in my center console for a headlight problem) Any suggestions could be helpful.

Have you cheked the bulbs in the instrument pannel? I know about 3 of mine were out, and needed replacing, if you have to replace them all.

i haven't opened up the panel to look at it yet. Is it hard to do? That is more than likely the problem but I just wanted to make sure before I did anything.

I had to do it myself, when you do it, replace all the bulbs.
