There's a loud grinding sound when ever I turn the steering wheel to the right. The brakes and pads are good what would make this sound? Thanks

We will need a bit more information. Does it do it only when the Trac is moving or when you are idiling? Is it a 2WD or 4X4? Does it do it when you only apply the brakes or all the time? Does the noise go away when you apply the brakes? Can you "feel" the noise thru the steering wheel? Only do it when it is cold?

Do you have a Sport Trac or an Explorer...your profile says tou own a 1992 Sport Trac...the first year for them was 2001

Sorry it's a 2003 ford explorer sports trac 4 wheel drive. It doesn't make the sound idling only when you turn the steering wheel to the right. Applying brakes does nothing to stop the grinding.

it could be could be the wheel hub that is shot and rubbing against the ABS sensor.

it almost sounds like a wheel bearing to me. Jack it up, place jack stands under it and pull on the top of the tire. If there is any play there It is probably a wheel bearing. My guess is if hear the grinding you turn right, that it is the left front wheel bearing. My '03 did the same thing.
