hi everyone, like the last thread i started about what would a black 98 sport look like with black ground effects, i now need to know about removing them!!!! i went to take them off last night, only to discover that they are not fastend to the body with round push clips, but square ones! they have a finger on each side, and if memory serves me correct, the look like the ones they used to put on 94 and up mustangs. which 9-10 times broke while taking them off. i want to know what i have to take apart to get them off. i don't care if i snap any clips, i have about 50 of them, what i don't want to do is bend my fenders, or quarters. or worse, breack the plastic ground effects in the prosess :dunno:

a trim/door panel removal tool from the autoparts store would help

only if i wanted to bend and scratch something! give me a break, i'm trying to get them off without damaging the body or the ground effects. anybody have any useful suggestions?

not really, i've tried doing it, i know guys that have done this, and you always end up denting the fenders with a door panel removal tool. when you put it between the plastic ground effect, and the fender, and pry on it, you dent the metal. if i were painting the enter truck, yes it would be a useful suggestion, but i'm not. there for, it is not useful

When I pulled off my running board to get them painted I just pulled on it without any tools. Try seeing if you can slide a flat strap behind it and pull it the way.

did your running boards have christmas tree clips? i know when i look at the ground effects going down the rockers that's what they have. but the ones on the fenders are different. i remember, and these were mustangs though, we would have to break the clips to get them off

Yea I think they were christmas tree clips. Most of them stayed on the truck and pulled out of the running board.

ya, i figured they would have them. those ones, yes i would remove with a panel puller, because they are down on the pitch wield. it's the ones with the square clips that i'm worried about.
