Hey all,
Don't know if this will interest anybody, but here goes.
Ever since I got my '92 Eddy back in November, the sound quality has SUCKED. So i figured maybe that it was because I had a stock radio, and radio isn't the best quality. so i replaced the radio with a Sony XPLOD CA-650X headunit. EVEN WORSE. I thought I had blown my front left speaker it sounded so bad. So, just last week I installed some Rockford Fosgate 6x8s. Much to my surprise, THEY SOUNDED EVEN WORSE THAN STOCK! I just stood there really pissed and thinking WTF?! So finally, it occured to me. I had used one of those "ford premium sound amp adapters" that came with my power wiring harness. BIG MISTAKE. turns out that my 52W of output on each channel was going into the LINE IN of the amp. needless to say, there was distortion galore. Now, to the moral of the story boys and girls. If you install ANY upgrades to your sound, be sure to trash the amp. It is terrible. The stock speakers actually sound decent if connected directly to the head unit and NOT routed through the amp. Just thought I'd post this to help others who may be wondering why they purchased that brand spanking new alpine unit and why there is so much distortion. hope this helps somebody. BTW, if anyone wants to buy a stock amp, contact me, maybe we can work something out
