After putting it off for too long I finally had new shocks installed this weekend. I went with the Pep Boys Gabriels.
Now I don't know why I didn't do it sooner. It's a great improvement over stock shocks. Nose dive on breaking is almost gone, and it corners a whole lot better than it ever did before. The ride is a bit rougher but it's worth it.

Now for my new questions... When I hit larger bumps it seems like the steering wheel jumps alot more, or at least its alot more noticable now. Is this normal? It desn't really bother me too much I just want to be sure Pep boys didn't mess anything up.

Also is there an easy way to level out an X? My height to the wheel wells is almost an inch lower on the drivers side than the passenger side.

With stiffer shocks you're going to get more bumpsteer, just something that goes with stiffer shocks.

As for the driver sag, you can try loosening your passenger torsion bar adjuster to try to lower the front passenger corner and raise the rear driver corner. Driver sag is very common and there are many threads on it. You other option is to get new leaf springs for the rear or try to swap them side to side, then raise the driver front with it's torsion bar.

As for the bumps and steering. I kinda get that too. So I am not sure.

As for the leveling out the Front. You can adjust your torsion bars to asjust each side indevidule. The steps would be just like if you lift or lower the truck. But you would just be doing the one side up or down. Please check my home page for details on how to adjust the torsion bars. Look on the left side for how to lower an Explorer. Just follow those directions on the side you choose for up tighten the bolt for lower loosen the bolt. If you have anyother questions let me know. Good Luck!

Thanks guys, that is what I figured with the bumpsteer, I just wanted to be sure, like I said the stiffer shocks are well worth it.

But is there anyway to reduce this? I looked up steering stabilizers but I cant find one for an 01 sport.
Any other ideas?
