Half shaft problems!!!

My husband is currently trying to get his half shaft off....bear with me as I do not know much about cars : ) He got the bolt off fine but he cannot get the shaft out of the transmittion. He believes either the half shaft or ball bearing unit is broken....I was driving a few weeks ago and his truck just started making a loud banging noise and kept veering to the right. He just replaced the outter tie rods on his front tires. Anyone have any advice? I would appreciate anything!!!

The halfshaft should just come off by just pulling it away from the hub. If it doesn't come off by pulling onto it, use a pry bar and pry onto the shaft at the shaft and it should just fall off easily.
