I've been looking at installing new plugs to get a little better hp and mpg. I still have the original plugs in my explorer since I only have about 37K mi. My brother suggested I try the new halo plugs. I don't know much about sparkplugs, and don't want to get taken by a gimmick. Anybody install these or have any sort of experience with them?

If you'd like to check them out, the address is:

Thanks in advance....

Looks like a stupid gimmick to me. Same with the Bosch +4. Messing with something that isn't broken. The most high performance NASCAR engines, etc use regular copper plugs. Just replace them often.

I agree with BlueOval. Ever since the invention of the "performance" industry they have been trying to invent the "better" spark plug. The only problem is, they all work under the same principal, spark jumps to the point of least resistance. Taking that into consideration what is going to be easier for spark to do, jump from the electrode to the only ground available (standard plugs), or to who knows where when there are 2,4 or ?? grounds. Every manufacturer has tried and not one has come up with the answer (if they had why would they continue to make anything else?).
Now there will be others out there that disagree, but until someone can come up with solid proof (ie: independent dyno testing not, my truck runs better since I put bla..bla...bla... in it) I will stick with Motorcraft factory replacement plugs.

so the conclusion that I'm coming to is stick with a standard grade plug (and save some money), replace them/clean them somewhat more often than the prescribed maintenance schedule, and you'll be good to go.
