Hello! My name is ArtJ and I'm from Golden, Colorado.
I'm not exactly a youngster, my family drove Ford products for many years. I mean, after Dad came home from the Pacific after WWII and bought a surplus Dodge Navy Staff Car. He started in '53 with a Seafoam Green Ford sedan and got new Fords every 3 years after that. I started with Ford with a '68 Ford Falcon...turned out to be a great vehicle ( I only bought it after getting married...seems, my sportscar days were over!) and have had many Ford/Mercury products since.
Purchased a well used manual trans. '86 Bronco II as a second vehicle in '91 when we lived in the mountains...it was great until it had a run-in with a bridge abutment during a snow storm. I think I had my foot on the brake for 20 minutes after the sudden stop. At that point I bought a used '99 8 cyl XLT in 2000 (it had been a rental) and haven't regretted it (well, maybe a little twinge when I fill the tank lately)...great and reliable vehicle. I found this site while trying to find out info on the temp and compass readings on the overhead console. It had been acting up (going dark) a couple of times in the recent past, but always came back...except this time. It's been out now for about a week and, other than checking the driver's side fuse box, I can't figure out what to do. If anyone has a suggestion, I'd be most appreciative.
Thanks.
