My Navajo has been having a hard starting... But never fails to start. It only happens after the truck has been sitting for an hour or so. But it just seams like it is taking a little more time to start. Could this be a sign that my fuel pump is going bad.

Have you un a diagnostic scan to see what that might tell?

Good luck.....

Once the truck is Running it runs normal. The Alternator is Fine I had that checked out and the battery is a new Red top battery. Starter is working fine.

I'd check and see if the fuel pump check switch is holding pressure over time. Usually when they go bad, it takes quite a bit of time to bleed off the pressure (usually overnight). An hour seems too short, but you never know.

Before you start it next time, turn the ignition on, listen for the pump. Once it quits running turn it off then back on again. Do this two or three times, then try to start it. If it starts easier than it has been this is a good indication that the internal check valve in the fuel pump is bad and allowing the fuel pressure to bleed off prematurley.

mrboyle,

I am doing that very thing but there is funny thing about my Navajo the Fuel pump is Quiet. I cant Hear it, It has always been like that. Our Mustang and the 91 Explorer both have noisey fuel pumps but I have never once heard my Navajos Fuel pump. Before leaving work tonight I turned the key to the on posission till I know the fuel pump stopped (waited a little while) then Started the Navajo and it started smoother. I think it might be a bad fuel filter since the one in the Truck has never been changed.

Kris,
This was one of the first things that I tried to figure out before I bought my Explorer. It seemed that if you stuck the key in and turned, she starts a little rough, but almost everytime you turn to run, pause, then turn her on, it starts with less cranking. I also noticed this now with my remote start. It pauses for a little bit and starts smoother than if I just jump in and crank on it. Another Ford Wonder of the World, dont ask, it works, kinda
