Sunroof
I have a "factory" sun/moon roof in my '92 XLT and have never had any trouble with it on or off road. I like it so much I was thinking of putting one in my '91 Bronco I just bought from my brother-in-law.
Back in the 1970's when custom vans were popular I put quite a few of the pop up ones in, never did an electric one, though, nor would I try. I did put a regular sunroof in a Pinto station wagon once. Pretty easy to do. The roofs usually come with a template that you tape to the top of the car where you want it. Drill a starter hole and use a saber saw with a metal cutting blade. Cut the ceiling liner from above to match the hole, and pop in the roof frame, seal with silicone, pop in the plastic or metal framing from below, all done. Most aftermarket sunroofs come with directions and are basicaly the same as what comes as factory installed.
BTW, factory sunroofs are not done at the factory, they are done by an outside vendor. My little brother, who was a total screw-off when he was younger worked at ASC (American Sunroof Corp) who did all the sunroofs for Mustangs and others. Of course they had the equipment and production line going, but even he could install a sunroof from start to finish in about 10 minutes.
If I could find an after market sunroof for sale (anybody knows who has them) I would not hesitate in putting one in.
