Has anyone installed LED headlight bulbs in a 4th gen standard housings and actually been happy with them?

I get that they look whiter and look more modern but every vehicle and factory housing is different, and are designed to work with incandescent bulbs, I'm curious if it's actually worth it or they just look cool. I'm pretty happy with my Philips Crystal Vision bulbs for headlights and fogs right now.

I am satisfied with my LED headlights and fog lights overall. They do improve visibility a good amount and the beam pattern matches the OEM one spot on when I compared one bulb against another. Be sure to buy the proper LED for your application and don't get cheap ones. The good units locate the LEDs in the housing where they match the element of the OEM bulbs. The only thing I would change is not using the 6000K version as they are a little too white for my taste. I think the 5000k LEDs would be better in this regard.

Did you have to add a resistor with your bulbs?

I didn't on mine, everything was integral, all on unit.

Yes, I did. Some LEDs do not need them. The bulbs I bought said they didn't need them but after installing them in my Mountaineer they were needed. The manufacturer sent me the resistors free of charge and it solved my issues. About once every month or two I will get a "Check Headlights" in the information display when turning on the headlights. All I have to do is hit the Reset button and the warning goes away. I have been using them for well over a year and can't really complain about them at all. I just wish I had opted for the 5000K versions over the 6000K ones. At some point I will replace the headlights with 5000K units. I rarely use the fog lights so changing them doesn't make much sense. Also, the fog lights did not need resistors.

My .02 fwiw and not paid.
I installed a set of Lasfit lc6 9007 on my 4th gen Mountaineer.
It's been 2+ years and one just went dim.
They do not require resistors, but they do trigger check high beams on dash once they are engaged or flashed.
They are a clean white light, 6000k maybe?
No flicker, no delay, or hot spots, have a decent light pattern and no one flashes me inatalled in my reflector housing.
I wish that they were a tad bit brighter.
No complaints here, and would recommend them.

BTW April 2021:
Auxito did not fit.
Torchbeam triggered the headlamp out.
Lightning Dark got a little debris on led, and when i brushed it off, it took a little yellow coating off with it. This caused a bluish purple hue on that one side.
Back to Lasfit.

I find fog lights giving you best additional lighting, I am using some kind of LED bulbs from ebay. No resistors, once a week I'll get the check light but got used to it.

I think they are good upgrade.
