I have been sick since Tue with a fever that won't break. So today I'm watching TV and one of those info-mertials comes on for ZMAX. Being to weak to even use the remote I watched it. What realy made me wonder is the guy that states his van had blow-by and the ZMAX cured it.
My dad was a mechanic, and I took auto-tech in high school and know blow-by is due to the cylinders and the rings being to worn to seal. So how does this additive stop blo-by?
Another thing I found fishy is A.J.Foyt says he uses it in his Indy cars. To the best of my knowledge they don't allow any kind of aditives in the oil.

Just as I suspected. I especily iked the part that said ZMAX was nothing more than dyed mineral oil. I will have to check out the "Tornado" and see if any actions have been filed against it.

I thought about trying ZMAX after seeing the same infomercial. However, I did a search through google.com and found out that the FTC has a suit against them for false advertising, and that ZMAX actually enhances corrosion of bearings. So, unless you would like to ruin your engine, I would not recommend it. The same goes for Slick 50. The teflon in that product can clog oil passages. :nono:
I was told this by a mechanic, and also found info on the net saming the same. Try a search through google.com and you will find info on both of these. If you would like to try a product that actually works, try
Militec. You can find them at http://www.militec-1.com/.
I have used this product in my Mustang 5.0 and noticed immediate results. Lubeguard is supposed to be another good product, but which I have not tried yet. I plan to use it in my trans at the next tranny flush, though. You can find them at Dead Link Removed You can find info about Lubeguard by doing a search through this site, that is where I first heard about it.
:hammer:
