Having problems with engaging 4x4

I have a 1993 Ford Explorer 4x4 with 75,000 miles on it. It has the push-button four wheel drive setup. When I push the 4x4 or the Low Range button nothing happens. The indicator lights on the dash don't even light up or anything. What might be causing this?

hey the problem with the 4X4 is the motor on the transfer case this is a link that will help you with your problem and other ones too
