Well, guess what! I went to change my sparkys yesterday and one was very difficult to remove, it seems as though the threads were crossed. I cannot blame the dealership yet, because I don't know if I did it or if they did it. But I bought a tap and tried to clean it out without much luck. I couldn't find one that would go more than about 1/4 inch in. I was then able to get a new plug in pretty far and I thought it was all the way, but unfortunatley it wasn't because I am getting a spitting. Other wise it runs fine. Ford is telling me that they cannot re-tap the threads adn the Heads will probably need to be replaced. I am having them try to clean up the threads for me, but how hard is it to replace a head and gaskets on the SOHC? I have replaced intake manifolds on another car before, is it relatively the same level of dificulty? Also is there any perfomance mod I can do whtile I do that? I figure if I am in it that far I might as well have some fun?

Please if anyone knows the answer to this, please reply.

Taxxman do you have the room to get a tool into the head to rethread? I can't remember what the size is on the plugs 14mm? They sell kits for reaming and rethreading heads. I think maybe ford would like to assist you in your new cylinder head purchase :D

Have you looked at theseHeliCoil Kits

I don't know if this is the kit you would need or not I am just using it as an example!!!

I didn't pay attention to your year does it have aluminum heads?
