IDK about you but I always found it easier to just say F the amp bypass crap and just run new speaker wire. (of course I've always used external amps and there is no way I am relying on the factory tin foil wiring!)

when they say to remove it...does tha tmean just unplug everything and take the amp out..simple as that?....or was i mistaking...sorry for all the questions....i just want to get this done

The AMP bypass is simply a plug about 4 inches long. You unplug the connector ontop of the amplifier and the one on bottom...the bypass harness connects these two connectors togather taking the amplifier completly out of the loop (bad pun). The most difficult thing is getting the panel off and getting to the amplifier...if you can do that a 4 year old could bypass the amp.

I left my amplifier inplace, it was one less thing to do and I was pressed for time. When you remove the two connectors there is no longer power going to the amplifier anyway...so unless 5 to 8 pounds is going to hurt your performance (I can eat that muchg Sushi ;-) ) dont worry about it. Here the local Walmarts carry the bypass amp harness and the OEM adapter plugs.

You will need a panel pin puller that you can get at any auto parts store. It looks like a little spatula witha slot cut in the middle. I think they call it an "Upholstery pin removal tool" and the By-Pas plug is avaliable most anywhere. Have you gone to Crutchfield and looked up your vehicle ?? it will show you pictures of the wiring harness you need ??

two little metal things are alpine head unit removal keys, and a ford dealership or audio shop will be more than happy to pop out your factory head, which also requires special keys

alright i found it on crutchfield

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-jQ0Cm71RbJY/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?I=120705008

but it also sayes

Important Note: This harness bypasses your factory amplifier. In order to install it and make the necessary connections, you will need to run the harness wires from your receiver location to your factory amp location, which may be in the rear of your vehicle.

does that mean that i have to run wires all the way back into the amplifier or what....and this plug ur talking about is i just unconnect what whires are going into the amplifier and put the plugs in them and put everything back together and i'm done with that...then take the harness and splice together the wires that go on each connecter and it will be good to go...sorry but this is taking a little longer than i expected it to

alright! well i think i'm going to say screw you...to those a people at my local shop and just get the bypass plug and harness and do it myself...seems really easy...gonna go get the stuff monday....altho one last question....with the other harness with the two plugs do you just put them together with the factory harness that it plugs into like on the one with just one plug?...stupid question but making sure...getting kind of excited

Yes

The Amp By-Pass harness just connects the two bundles of wires together to make 1 bundle. It is really not a big deal and you cant plug the wrong wire in the wrong way...the connectors are keyed and will only go 1 way. If you can get to it physically the rest Will be easy.

Best of luck

i think this guy is screwing me...he said i have to bring it in for him to make sure the plug will work..and from what you guys told me the plug alwayz works...he said something about having to run 4 wires instead.....

well coz i`m in the industry i have often got ppl to come in just so i make sure i sell him the right part..it takes me a second to see if the harness is correct at no xtra charge...but thats me. some digital pics of yer dash and factory plugs would solve a lot of mysteries...feel free to e-mail me @ dgilesos@hotmail.com

alright one last question.....they ordered me the "kit" sayes that the wireing harness for my cdplayer and the bypass plug all come in it.....so it's as simple as pluging in the two plugs on the factory amplifier so the wires just go back into the amp?....and then i just splice the wires like i do on any other cd player installation?....simple as that?

one last answer....lol, the amp "bypass harness" REPLACES the amp...picture twoo harnesses going into the amp...then unplugging them from the amp, then into each other...thats what the amp bypass harness does, then it should be as simple as wiring your head unit to the harness in the dash......hope this help...good luck

alright well i ordered my plug and wiring harness about a week ago...actually it was last tuesday and i tshould have been in monday or tuesday..then i called tuesday and he said it will be in wendsday and now it's thursday and it's STILL not in....so i'm going to look at ordering it offline....so can anyone send me a link that i can buy what i need off of...thanks
