What size socket do you use to adjust the headlights?
The smallest socket i have is 3/16" and it as loose as a dick in a wizard's sleeve.

1/4"?

i ran into the same problem this past weekend. there must be a special tool for it. i thought about using a small allen bolt with 2 nut jammed on it as an adapter. another trip to the hardware store i guess.

Heh, that's what I was thinking too.

I found my tool for holding small taps, I was going to see if that worked but it got dark.

In my first post I meant to ask 1/8th, not 1/4. 1/4 would be ok.

I found some small Allen head screws that had the right size Allen, er, hole.
I screwed one into the end of a short length of dowel and used it like a screwdriver.

It works.

4mm. It's a metric size, but if you insist on standard, 5/32" should work.
And yes, there are special tools for that. The one I am using is a slim double-sided 4/4.5mm 'gear wrench'. You can find those on line from many sources (just google 'Ford headlight adjuster'). I think that I got mine from JEGS for about $15). These are are designed to fit in tight spaces, but on the Ex there is plenty of room, so a 4mm socket on a 1/4" ratchet drive should work.

Thanks 1998Exp, but it's too late. I've adjusted my headlights using my kludged tool.
Actually, it's even more kludged than I let on; it's not a short length of dowel at all, it's a short piece of stick.

Good Aussie hardwood though.

WHERE do you buy new adjusters? Mine has a long shaft 6 inch and a right angle drive to adjust the headlight

I got new headlights and adjusters for $50 on the rock
