Hi all,

I need to replace the headlight connectors on my 1999 Euro spec Explorer.

Long story - but the short version is that it's a UK Explorer that I've exported to France now that I live here. Needed to change the headlights for driving on the right - ordered some from the States (Ford have stopped selling them here, so they're over $1000 each, I'm not kidding - maybe I should start importing them!).

The lights that I received came with bulbs that have a male fitment, needing a female connector. Of course, the Euro connectors are male.

So, can someone tell me the part number for the US female headlight connector? I phoned a couple of Ford dealers in the US and got completely different info from them - one said it was an $8 part, the other $32! So can someone give me a definitive answer?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Adrian.

Uhh...you'll have to give me a bit. It's going to be a while before I recover from the price of those headlights. Are you kidding me??? And why do the headlights need to change because it becomes a right hand driver? I saw a Cobra in Australia converted to RHD (very spendy) but no head light changes. I must be missing something here...which certainly wouldn't be the first or last time.

I know - crazy price!

They need changing because in the UK we drive on the left, so headlights on dipped beam point slightly left so as not to dazzle oncoming cars. It's the reverse for driving on the right, as in the US or France. And as it's part of the design of the headlamp, I needed to replace them, rather than just point them a bit right.

Hope that's clear(ish)!

Cheers.

Couldn't you just use the old bulbs in the new housing?

Check rockauto.com. I just looked and they have several different connectors. Cheapest is $3. I think they ship internationally too?

Hi JL,

If they hadn't changed the design of the bulb housing!!!!! Thanks Ford!

I'll check out rockauto - thanks.
