My drivers-side headlight is out on my 95xlt. its not lighting when the low-beam is on, however it lights when the highbeam is on...the bulb is fine checked it already. I'm not getting any power to the socket with the low-beam....but this is only happening on the drivers side. This also happened in my dads 96EddieB.

Anyone else with this problem? Any suggestions?

Fuses ok?

The same thing happened on my 95 limited. It was a cold solder joint on the LOM module. Here are the last two steps for troubleshooting this problem:

E4 HEADLAMP FEED TO LAMP OUTAGE MODULE

Disconnect wiring at lamp outage module.
Headlamp switch ON and dimmer switch in LO beam position.
Check for battery voltage at module connector terminal 12 (DB/LG).
Is battery voltage present?
Yes
GO to «E5».
No
REPAIR open between module and fuse panel.

E5 ISOLATE MODULE

Install jumper between module connector terminals as follows:
-- With LH lamp out, terminals 1 (W/LG) and 11 (DB/W).
-- With RH lamp out, terminals 12 (DB/LG) and 13 (DG/O).
Is headlamp on?
Yes
REPLACE lamp outage module.
No
REPAIR open between module and headlamps

could be a loose connection.... jiggle the wires around and see if it helps

tried moving around tha harness...nothing...BTW..where is the LOM module located?

Your low beam wire on that side could be grounding out. Happened to me back in 2000. The drivers side head light assembly wire was grounding out.

I'm not sure about the location of the LOM on a xlt. On my limited, the LOM is under housing that includes the message center.

Any update on this? I'm a new user looking for info on this for my g/f's 95 Limited. Has same problem as described above, I was just curious if you found it to be the same problem as the other Limited owner mentioned above......

If it's a Limited, then the problem is your Lamp Out Module. Take the trip computer out and flip it over, and you should see a little black box on the left side of the computer (if I remember correctly). Look inside that box and see if there's a broken solder. If there is, then solder it and it should work again.

I'm not 100% sure if the procedure is correct but I'm sure someone here will be able to help. Good luck!!

Awesome! I assume by "trip computer" you are referring to what I call the "Information Center". I'll search around too, but are there any good threads about removing this, or does it just snap out?

I had about given up because I was at the end of my rope and am not a wiring guy. Wasn't expecting to find such a great online resource for Explorers!

Just pull it out. No need to unscrew anything until you flip it over.

Thanks a ton guys, this was it. Didn't see it right away, but with the help of a magnifiying glass I found a solder that was cracked all around the base. I still can't believe this was the cause. Thanks again.

To anyone else who digs this up, this thread helped a lot in removing the console and finding the LOM

Yep, that's me :) Like I mentioned before, I was surprised to find out this info online for Explorers. Next up will be the burnt-out headlight switch backlight........
