Heartland Run - Kansas

Rob -
Sorry to hear about your cancellation - - but hey, come on up as is - - you're still running 31s, and you'll get along fine.

Matt-
Last week I went out and hooked up some J**pers. One trick CJ with big V-8, Detroits, 39s, etc. couldn't get up a hill, and it wasn't based on lack of experience or effort... I'm sure you won't be bored.

DOGMAN-
Thanks for the deal on the $44 rate.

OK well I may make it out yet - we'll see how busy we get near the end of this week. yeah I got the Mickey Thompson HP's moutned today, look sweet, hope they do as well as they look like they might! They obviously won't have the grip the mud terrains did, because they aren't mud's, but I can definately see them doing as well. now, when I get the Mickey Thompson Baja Claws delivers, oh baby you better run cause I'll be able to make it through anything, LOL. Hope to see everyone there (If I decide to go out)

OK Everyone,

I'm there, with the first new model Eddie Bauer you've ever seen modified like this.
Matt you'd better ante up and drive over for the show.

Gerald
PS/ I'm broke, just spent $750+ on tires, and need a room if Matt ain't gonna show....

Dogman Mike, you still got room for a bum to sleep on the floor? Matt, I'll be there for Sat and Sun nite. If you still want to split a room we'll do that, but we-un's and Mike need to figger this out quick-like...

Gerald,

You definitely get after it, don't you! Great to see that you'll be heading north next weekend.

You are more than welcome to share my room. In fact, I wouldn't have a problem having you and Matt share the room with me if you guys are looking to save some money. The room has two beds so I'll take one and you and Matt can pick who gets the other bed or a sleeping bag on the floor, if that interests you guys at all. Let me know what you think.

Matt,

I'll write a note to your boss if you want, explaining the need for R&R next weekend(Road travel and Rockcrawling).

I would imagine that the new HP's look killer on your 589's.

Fellow Kansans BrettW and VCMudder, are you guys going to be able to make it next weekend? Let us know. Heck Brett, you live so close we could probably all go over to your house for lunch!

Great job on the mods - - remember, it's only money Dead Link Removed.

Matt -
You're coming out. Just keep repeating that over and over in your head until you hit Exit 313 on I-70.

When can we expect the two of you? Are you guys driving in late Friday, or should we expect to meet up with you on the trails on Saturday?

I'd offer a bed, but my wife (and probably dog) are coming out too...

OK.....I know paul i just emailed you and told you that i would be out for this weekend. After some talking with Mike, i am gonna go get my ball joints checked out by another unbiased shop, i am not sure, if the guys that recommended this were just trying to milk me. Anyways, i am gonna get that checked out, and keep you guys posted. If i can't 4wheel, maybe i will just come out and piss in the lake or sumthin..who knows? I am a creative person, i will find sumthin to do, maybe i wil wonder around and prank you guys...the usual potatoes in the tailpipes, shotgun shells in the muffler, fun stuff like that! =) Wish me luck @ the shop!

Matt,

Sounds like a plan to me. You're guaranteed a warm place to sleep. Looking forward to seeing you.

Paul's repetative training program is a winner -- "You get all this for only $19.95! Act now!!!"

Just tell "Tippy" that you're headed eastbound and set the autopilot. Giddyup!

well hey, how about dogman and gjarret split a room and if I'm able to show up, I'll sleep on the floor? That way if I don't show up you guys are still able to split a room, but if I do I have a place to stay!

OK well Im tenatively gonna be there. Looks good as far as vacation time goes, but if we're too busy I won't be able to make it. How long do you think it will take from Denver? i figure I'll be leaving here about 11-12 if I do go, so whenever that got me to the Days inn (the hotel we're all staying at right?) is whenever I get there... Look forward to some more non-Colorado wheelin (love a little adventure!).

Matt to boss: "I need another day off to go wheeling"
Boss to Matt: "Again? Didn't you just go to Truckhaven a few weeks ago?"
Matt to boss: "Yes, but that was a while ago and this time its closer, and its a three day weekend anyway"
Boss to Matt: "What the heck is so enjoyable about going to other places and beating up that awesome Explorer"
Matt to Boss: "If I have to explain you will never understand"
Boss to Matt: "Well ok if we aren't busy you can go and play with your little friends" Dead Link Removed

8-9 Hours to get there from here. Thats with going 5mph over the speed limit. There are lots of cops along I-70 on that route. At least all the times I go there are.

Grrrrrr......
I have just been informed by the powers-that-be that:
1) President's Day is not a holiday at my company; and
2) The V.P. of our division has scheduled a staff meeting at 10:30am that Monday morning!
-- Probably to make sure nobody plays hooky, I bet --

Matt, you may not have to sleep on the floor after all.

Gerald

Matt,

I regularly travel from my house in Kansas City (on the Kansas side) to Denver in the 8-9 hrs that Ryan gives. Tuttle Creek is about 125 miles from my house, and it takes me just under 2 hrs to get there. So my math says it should take you about 7 hrs driving time from Denver to Tuttle Creek. I usually drive about 5-8 over the limit and don't find the Kansas HP to be any more aggressive than most states. If you keep it 9 over the limit and under, they shouldn't bother you. I have never got a ticket on I-70 in Kansas and I've traveled it many, many times. Have a safe trip.

If you leave at 11am-12noon, you should make it in time to go to dinner with us. We can wait for you. There's a bunch of restaurants and bars right down the road from the Days Inn, where we will be staying. I've got the rate locked in at $44/night.(If anyone is making reservations, tell them you are with the explorer4x4.com group. I know I said before to just ask for the corporate rate, but the manager changed her mind. I called her today-Mon-and confirmed all of this.) My room is yours, so no worries on a place to stay.

Gerald,

You're such a tease -- Yes,No,Yes,Maybe......

I've already sold quite a few tickets for people wishing to view your 99EB-Creation. Hate to disappoint them.

OK Dogman sounds good - Ryan (rpenner54) also expressed interest in going - riding with me. So I guess if Gerald goes we can split into two seperate rooms and if Gerald doesn't go we can squeeze into one and either Ryan or me can sleep on the floor. Lookin forward to it!

Matt -
Is Ryan traveling with you (convoy), or riding in your rig (leaving his Sport at home)?? Regardless, are you guys coming in late Friday/early Saturday, or Saturday afternoon?

I'm poor at the moment so I will be ridding shotgun with Matt. We plan on leaving at 11-12 I belive. So I would say evening sometime. Any tips on where to go once we get off I-70 probably would be helpfull.

Ryan and Matt,

Glad you guys could make it. I'd really like to see your rig too Ryan, but I know about money being tight.

We'll work out whatever is best for everyone on accomodations. Like I said before, my room is open, you can both stay there if you like, Gerald too if he shows up. Doesn't matter to me. I'm all for saving money too.
Paul wrote directions to the hotel and the ORV area just above on this page, second post from the top. If you have questions, let us know. The hotel is easy to find from I-70, I can't describe it any better than Paul.

If you guys leave at around noon, you should get to Manhattan in time for dinner. We'll just wait for you at the hotel. If something happens, just call the hotel and leave a message. I'm sure we'll talk back and forth before this weekend.

Looking forward to meeting you both.

OK folks...GOOD NEWS! I am in for sure. I went to NTB to have my rig checked out, and the shop foreman there said that as long as i don't go flying around doing 60 on the trails, i shouldn't be in any trouble as far as my ball joints are concerned. He said they are a little bad, but nothing to worry about just yet, and for the $400 or so that it takes to fix them, they can sit on the back burner for a while.
Hey Mike or Paul.....what time do you want me to meet you guys up there on Sat.? I am staying in KC fri nite as i have to pick up my dad at the airport late fri afternoon, and then to party with the crew here fir nite, so lemme know when i should rendezvous with y'all on Sat.
On an extra side note, anyone check the weather, looks like we might have some white-wheelin'! From what i have seen, it is supposed to SNOW!!! Thurs nite and Fri, or something like that, so that oughta make things get REAL interesting!
Look forward to meetin' y'all!
Hope all those traveling have a safe trip out, we wouldn't want you to wreck your ride before oyu even get here to hit the trails, so drive careful!

No more teasing from me.... since Monday is not a holiday for me I really cannot make it.

I COULD use up a vacation day to come but I have my sights set on Moab this year and also the Colorado Colors Run if it happens again. I need to keep all the vacation time I have.

Have a GREAT weekend! I DO wish I were there.

Gerald

Snow eh? Well I guess that should give me a chance to test out the mickey thompson baja belted hp all-terrains eh? Sounds good. I guess since Gerald won't be there if both me and Ryan go we'll probably room with Dogman and split the cost, cheaper for everyone Dead Link Removed. Just don't hog the shower when I need it! LOL just kidding. I may be leaving earlier, depends if I get the whole day off or just half a day. We'll see...
