I have a 98 Eddie Bauer the the heater/blower fan is acting up. I don't think the problem is the motor itself because when it runs it sounds fine with no noises or anything leading up to it starting to act funny. The first time the fan quit there was a ting of electrical smell in the air, then it quit. I had it set on auto, when I hit the fan speed to full it took back off. Now the last few days it would cut out once in a while but only with it in auto. Today it now will only run with the fan on high, nothing else. Turn the fan down 1 tick it quits. I don't know much about these auto systems, so hopefully someone can give me a little insight. Any help is much apprciated.

i dont know about the auto either, but my guess is that you have a blower motor resistor pack gone. I have no idea where to find it on your truck though.

Yes it looks like your blower control module has failed. If you can get the module open and provide some info about it, I might be able to assist in a discrete component level repair... if possible that is a lot cheaper than buying a new ~ $300 module, but mine doesn't have auto, I could only go by info you provide.

Basically the odds are it's a blown transistor or triac that needs soldered in, possibly also a circuit board trace has been damaged or a board trace could be the only damage. Harder to say on a vehicle, odd things come into play like whether water gets in there or it gets hot enough in summer, etc.

Lots of these vehicles in pull-a-part/JYs. I would look there first for a replacement unit.

Fixed. Used the links added above, ordered the part from rockauto, $55 bucks & 1/2 hours work. Thanks for the help everyone.
