Hi All,

I had some repair work to do this past week on my 2000 V6 Ranger. In my haste of getting things apart, I didn't take a photo or mark the heater hoses. I thought, "I'll remember that easily....." Famous last words. I have one of the Ford shop manuals borrowed from my local dealer, but it doesn't cover it. My Haynes manual is bereft of appropriate photos.

Can someone tell me which hose goes where, as I look directly at the heater core inlet/outlet? I'm thinking the hose with the valve is to my left, but I'd rather be safe than sorry ! It's personally disappointing since I replaced the heater core back in Feb. Aarrgghhhhhhh.

Thanks in advance- photos also welcome !

on our 02 ranger with the 4.0 sohc, the inlet hose is the one closest to the passenger door.

idk if thats the same for the 3.0 though.

you could always call the dealer and ask, they sometimes are able to provide useful info.

good luck

Thanks, I'm just not sure of the routing or which is in or out on the heater core.

I know there's a connection to the water pump, and another connection by the thermostat. There are two small inlets on the intake manifold for the smaller hose sections. One of the hoses has a vacuum valve, so I just can't place where it went.

My dealer's shop is closed today (esp being a holiday). I just put the engine back together, and this is the only step keeping me from a test-drive. I'll see the svc folks on Monday anyway to return the manual.

I've been looking on the net (and Flickr) for engine bay photos to hopefully get a clue. The ones I found don't seem to agree. I'd hoped to be back on the road already if it weren't for my general stupidity lol.

Thanks - I finally figured it out. With both hoses routing behind the alternator, one was longer at the bottom and obviously went to the water pump. I'll know Monday if my hunch was right when I go by my local Ford dealer. I'll try and post photos once I've confirmed it, or get the correct routing.

So far, everything's working fine as I got the rest together and made a test drive.
