We have tried to change out the blend door actuator but first tested it to see if it operated. There seems to not be getting power to the actuator. We have checked the fuse that is under the dash and it is good, not sure where to go next. We tried to operate the door manually but it seems to be stuck and cant move it either direction, using gear from old actuator. Where else can we look to fix the power issue?

If this is manual control (simple blue to red dial)? If so, have you checked the temperature blend control?

It has the blue to red center climate control. We checked the blend door actuator and the gears are good but it doesn't come on there seems to not have power. Checked fuses 10 and 25 they are good, need to check location 30. We tried to activate the door manually but it seems to be froze up. Had trouble trying to put the actuator back in but couldn't get it to line up in the hole so for the time being have left it out.

These Explorers are bad about breaking fresh air doors, but I have not seen issues with the other doors so far. Getting the actuator back in is tricky. The blend door mechanism and the actuator shaft have to be lined up just right and there isn't much room to work. I think when I put mine back in, I had to rotate the module around a little until it lines up and once it started to slide in, I rotated it the rest of the way along with the door. If the door is truly stuck, you may be looking at dash removal to get at it, so hopefully this isn’t the case. Once you have been able to verify that all affected fuses are good with an ohm meter (don’t always trust visual inspection alone), I would see if you can find the circuit diagrams and test values so you can ensure that the temperature control knob is good. Also, the gears aren’t the only thing that can go bad in the blend door control module. Gears could be fine but bad motor or position sensor, etc.

Thanks for your help we have resigned ourselves to maybe taking it to ford and biting the bullet. for right now a small portable heater will have to do and if that doesn't work put on another jacket, doesn't get that cold here in Las Vegas. Going thru a period of not being able to fix anything that breaks usually never the case as I am pretty handy. The ford f150 4x4 mechanism is next not going into 4 wheel drive.
That will be another post.
