How do I remove the metal heater pipes from a 1998 5.0? Is that a swivel nut fitting at the front? If not it looks like the engine would have to be out and the whole intake off to give the pipes room to swing around and round to unscrew.

I ask because the numbskull who did the swap from a 98 into my 02 Sport Trac slammed the back end of the pipe into the firewall, bending it forward and pinching the pipe almost flat. Discovered this while installing new injectors and changing the right valve cover, also due to damage that idiot did to it by bending the oil fill tube so it leaks.

As I remember it, the pipe is simply a push in with a pair of o-rings to seal.

There are a pair of tabs bolted to the intake and once those are out, the water rail will (with encouragement) pop straight up.

Bottom part of the hex portion spins independently from the tube and upper portion. Internal seal with an o-ring. No need to pull the engine.
