In both of my Mounties I have the climate control air which I love. But I have some ?s. In my old Blazer if you cut on the defrost it would run the air conditioner compressor with it. Do the fords do this too? How about running it on auto? I know it would if it is running cold air but how about the heat? If you hit the upper vent button the AC light will light but you can cut it off. It doesn't come on at all in auto so I was wondering. I just don't like to run the AC compressor just sucks more gas and hogs power. I hope this is clear and thanks alot.

Its always on in Auto unless you turn it off or unless its too cold outside.

From what i've observed, if you hit auto and its over 20F (or something close) the A/C light will come on, if its below that temp the A/C will be left off.

As to Vent's they usually turn it on regardless but i've never checked when it was that cold to see if the compressor was running and compared it to the light status.

I don't think the light comes on at all in the auto mode. I guess I could look and see if the compressor is running even if it is putting out heat. Why does it always come on when you select vent? Maybe to keep the comp. lubed up?
