okay this one is new to me heater does not get hot
tempature guage never goes past the "O" in normal on the guage. just replaced the thermastat with a 195 degree one. If exploror sits for a while it will go up to 1/4 of the way which is okay, but once I start going it goes down to below the "O" or "N" and heater gets cold. I know i want it to run cool but I think the engine has to run @ a certain temp to run efficently? anyone have any ideas????? o yah coolant is full

I had this same problem. I switche the hoses in and out of the heater core. After a couple days it cleared up the problem and I switched them back. All is still ok.

Regarding the operating temp, my '92 has never shown higher than 'o'. Once I get up to highway speed it cools it down to about an 1/8" below the 'n'. I also have a 195 t-stat and flushed the entire system during Christmas. It blows really hot air so I'm not complaining. :D

If your heater is not pumping out hot air, flush it and change your coolant. You might just have some blockage in your heater core.
