I have a 2004 explorer xlt, i went to get in my truck this morning and the passenger floor board was soaked. So far everybody seems to think it is my heating core, and i just wanted to know if anybody has had the same problem and if its true. I also wasn't sure if it was a leak, the hurricane had hit like 2 days ago and today was the first day i had gone out. The floor is soaked and its starting to smell. If it is the heating core can i ride on it or do i need to get it fixed asap? Thanks!

Does it smell like antifreeze? Try soaking some up and see if it's the same color as your antifreeze. If it's not and it doesn't smell like it, it's probably just rain water.

I don't think it is rain water beacause it is only on the front passenger side and it is just infront of the seat. It doesn't smell like antifreeze, due to the fact that my antifreeze is mostly water. So i can't really tell, i wasn't sure if anybody has had this go up in their explorer so i would know for sure before i pay $600!

It probably is rain water. if it was sitting outside during a hurricane that is dumping inches of rain per hour the area under the wiper arms at the base of the windshield can fill up with water, especially if the drain holes are plugged, this accumulation of water can fill up enough to spill into the air inlet for the hvac system. All of which is right above where the passengers feet would be.
