Hello All, I'm the new guy on the block.

I have a 96 Explorer Sport 4x4 that I have fallen in love with. Unfortunately I mis-spent my childhood learning about everything but cars, so I don't know too much about mods and tuning, etc... I am very eager to learn about my favorite new toy. Right now my toy is all stock, but I would definately like to increase acceleration and power a bit. I have been hearing about chips to add in, and in take filters, yadda yadda yadda, but likeI said earlier I am clueless. Can any of you give me a little guidance here?

As for the extrerior, I have it solid black all around, and had the blackout sfront and back till they were stolen. Instead of replacing them, I plan to go with the clear coat front corner lenses and possibly the altezza carbon fiber lamps for the back if I can manage to fit them in there (think I might need a little body work to get the in)

Any thoughts, ideas, flames are welcomed.

I also have a 96, but I have a 4 dr. Currently there isnt a way to get altezzas to fit in the rear because they were designed for the 98-01. For mods you might want to buy a K&N which will help your gas milages (air filter). You can get a borla cat back system which will run you about 300 bucks. This is a bolt on and will improve hp, gas mileage, and it has a 1 million mile warranty. Clear Coat Lenses? You mean clear corners right? Try ebay to get a pair of those. They should run ya about 30-50 bucks. You could also get a superchip, which will add about 15hp and will require you to run premium fuel. The superchip is based on the computer code near the back of your engine compartment.

Welcome aboard, I am also fairly new here and like you have an all black 96 sport, I think it's great. The guys are right search around, this is a great web site. You will get alot of good advise here, I know I have.

Welcome to the site! I will reinforce the fact to get a Free flowing muffler like a Borla or Flowmaster. I also recommend a air induction kit like the KKM or you could cut the front out of your airbox like I did.

The flowmaster force II has a nice sound and I love it. It is not as load as others and I need that for where I live. Figure it is a touch louder than factory. I recommend it, not so cheap but worth it. It was the good responses I got on this website that led me to get it.

This is definately one of the best if not the best web sites for explorer owners. Just looking around you pick up alot of good tips but don't be nervous asking questions here it is like one big explorer family here.
