- EXPL 2002 XLT 4x4 V8 4.6l
Hi ! I am new in the forum... I bought this summer a Ford Explorer 2002 XLT with the V8 4.6l engine. I have a few extra in the truck, like the two zone of Air control and the rear detector.
I was searching for a truck that can tow my trailer (RV). The weight of the RV is 4500LB and full is about 5500LB. So the Explorer was a right choice! In addition, my father in law is doing western horse riding and when I go to the "Show" about 85% of the truck are Ford F series! Therefore, I have thinks that a ford Explorer was surely a good truck to! My father in law has a F350 King Ranch... A pretty and powerful truck!!
I bought it in a dealer in Laval (Québec, Canada). In the first 3 month's I had many problems with the truck... I didn’t have to fight with the dealer to fix the problem, but after 7 time's...
!!
The last visit Ford had authorised the dealer to change the engine... So, I have now a brand new engine in the truck!
I am thinking of buying the Super chip for the truck!?
The only deception is the transmission, it take very long for it the change of gear! I do not know if this is because of the V8... However, it does not seem to be "prime". The Ford Escort 1997 of my wife is faster then my explorer in a Stop! Maybe the super chip can change something in it!
Anyway! I am still happy to have bought this vehicle!
