2006 Ford Explorer
I am not new to fords, but never had one with problems. Have owned a 1988
Bronco II, 1993 Probe GT, 1997 F150 XLT and now bought a 2006 Explorer for my son (many other makes and model vehicles). The day after I bought the Explorer, the problems started. I replace the Temp control actuator, cleaned the throttle body, replaced the DPFE Sensor and had a driver door ajar warning that I sprayed with wd40. I like to work on my vehicles when possible. I was an aircraft mechanic in the Air Force for a few years and enjoy turning wrenches on my 1994 wrangler, but I hate working on vehicles that never seem to be trustworthy. I am beginning to wonder about this explorer. I am sure I will be on this forum for both questions and answers. Thanks in advance for the help.

Most vehicles will only be as good as the last person kept it. Unless it has TSB from Ford on those issues or it isn't a common maintenance item, you are simply picking up the tab from someone else's daily driving rituals. I've had over 16 used cars, and once you start hitting the forums you get a good idea of what you will have on your plate (if not now, soon). A very smart idea is to go to mycarfax.com and register the VIN# of a car you want to buy used before you buy it. Unlike a regular carfax that you have to pay for, this is free and shows you all the recorded maintenance history. Only down side is you won't see accident history. I did that before I got my 98 Limited. Problems I'm dealing with now are items that usually strike around 150K+ and also some crappy aftermarket wiring from an electric fan install.

Best of luck on your repairs sir
