Hello,
I've got a 1997 Explorer Sport 4wd w/ 4.0 and some questions, hopefully somebody can help me out.
1-How can I tell which engine I have, there is an x version and another version, the machine at autozone says that the "x" version is roughly 33 percent of vehicles, so I just buy the parts for the other version (sohc iirc) but would like to know for sure.
2- My heat is acting up, I will let the car run for an hour and get no heat, but this year when it got cold, I was driving down the street and had someone stop in front of me, and I had to hit my brakes pretty hard. Low and behold the heat started working. I tested this a few more times, and if I am driving w/ no heat, and hit my brake pedal, the heat will start working. Is this the blend door problem that I read about?
3- Is there a how to on replacing door lock actuator? My drivers door I cannot lock/unlock w/ a key, and cannot lock it with the switch. It will try to lock, but won't.
Im having some other issues, but I can't think of them right off the bat.
4- I have replaced my plugs (shot), had a jiffy lube fuel system cleanse, but my car still hesitates on acceleration, sometimes it's really bad, other times it doesn't do it at all. Doesn't matter if engine is warm/cold. Truck is pushing 190k/200k miles, is there something else that could be causing this? Wires/fuel filter/??
