1998 explorer v6
Hi there, I'm new to ford explorers as I've just purchased a 1998 v6 petrol uk model from a customer of mine. He sold it me cheap as it's got random misfires on cylinder 1&4. After fitting new coil, leads and plugs, inlet manifold gaskets and a full service he had enough m&s wanted it gone.
I've driven vehicle for a few days now and it's defo random but mainly under load.
After speaking to mates of mine here in the uk all I get is burn it or scrap it. Not gona do that as it's a sweet ride and very useful to me.
Never had much dealings with American cars other than jeep diesels so I'm a bit stuck.
Any help would save my bacon :) thanks

Welcome aboard mate!! :salute:

Check out the UK Explorer Owners Sub-Forum. There you will find a bunch of guys across the pond (from me) that share your love for Explorers.

You can also check out the Stock 1995 - 2001 Explorers Sub-Forum for questions related to non-modified 1995-2001 Explorer, Mountaineer, Ranger and '02+ Sports and Sport Trac. Problem solving, maintenance, TSB, service bulletins, owner reviews, specifications.

Good luck getting it sorted.

Welcome to this forum! Are you getting P0301, P0304, P0171 & P0174 codes? From the way you're describing it, it sounds like you might have these codes. Connect it to a scanner, and let us know what comes up.
