With as much as this forum has helped me in the past (wrenching on my own stuff) I figured it was time for me to join. I've owned 3 explorers to date. My first car was a 1999 xlt 4.0 that my folks bought brand new and handed down to me. I drove the wheels off of it. Died with 297k on the clock, and while that was great mileage, 19 year old me swore id never own another 4.0 sohc due to how complex the timing chains would have been to fix. So I bought and drove a 2003 limited v8 to college with 84k miles on it. I miss the old 4.6 2v but i dont miss the 5r55w. Ive always loved 4th gens so I searched and searched for a clean 4th gen v8 for years (didn't care about trim just wanted the v8 4x4). I had given up at one point, either the price wasnt right or it just wasnt in good shape. finally my searching and diligence paid off when found one for sale in NC last year. One owner, clean inside and out Best daily driver out there IMO. Excited to be a part of the forum.
