Well, a lot like being married huh ? You can't live with a Ford Explorer, and you can't live without one !
I have a 2000 Eddie Bauer edition, that was running decent up until recently when I lost the key and had a new one made (by a friend who thinks he knows what he's doing). After less than a month with the new key, the windows stopped working, a week later, the windshield wipers stopped, then the windows worked for a day, then the interior lights stopped, then the lights started working again. This went on for a few weeks,. Now, the windows won't work, it won't start and the alarm (horn) stays on all the time. I tried disconnecting the battery overnight, then touching the battery leads together for 30s, but the alarm still stays on. Then I tried reconnecting the battery, putting the car in Drive, then Park. Still won't start and the alarm stays on.
How do I disconnect the horn ?
Do the windows and wipers go thru the computer ?
Who's dumb idea was it to put a computer in a car ?
I'd be willing to PAY to get this thing fixed but no one seems to know what to do.
I'll re-post this (and more) in the appropriate Forum, when I find it.
