I have a 2002 Ford Explorer and everthing was great til last night. The heater has stopped blowing hot air. It still blows but when I turn the temp control to hot , I hear a clicking in the dash ( behind the radio ) and the air temp never changes. It acts like a door or something is not closing up so the heat can kick in. Any ideals on what I can do to fix this

Thanks
Glenn

your heater control is not opening for some reason i have auto tec 3.0 and i ran what you have said in it and thats what it came up with.

Search on "blend door".

When I dropped the glove box, it looked different then what you showed,Do you know where the actuator is on a 2002, the top of the black box ( around the fan motor) has a bigger black box that has a flat bar coimng out of it going towards the center of the dash. This is where my heater core is at.

My explorer has the three knobs ( fan speed, temp and floor/vent/def/etc),it does not have rear air or climate control. I have found pictures showing the lay outs of the system ford used ,except for the one I have. I found one that has rear air and it showed the actuator in the rear hatch but said nothing or showed nothing on a actuator in the dash.
I am planning on getting a early start on this tomorrow and hopefully I will be able to get this fixed. so far I have had some helpful information from this forum, just have not got just the right info to lead me in the right direction. This is a first for trying to fix anything with the heating system

Thanks for all the help
