hey all, im really new to this whole 4x4 thing. just got a 93 xlt yesterday. really good condition all around and only paid $800 lol

but i also have a problem. when i push the 4x4 button i barely hear a click noise under the vehicle. but only 2 tires spin afterwards. But when i hit the low range i can hear it clunk at the trasfer case. but still no 4wd. but like i said i have never owned a 4x4 so i dont know exactly what to do. the guy that sold it to me said. to put it in Neutral then hit the 4x4 button then it will shift... sooo i have no ideas. if you know what i can do please help the noob out lol!

k, sweet thanks ill check it out, also i got linked here to this site from google and you were talking about manual hubs. now is that hard to install? and how much are they? in that forum you said 997 but is that all i need?

I just got your PM explaining that you've edited your first post to update the issue you have with 4WD. It sounds like the shift motor is trying to turn but it might be weak. Check the sticky thread in the transmission section on the shift motor. As for the problem making a new thread, certain forums such as the General Explorations section are closed to posting. The 911 section is only for Elite members.

awsome thanks, i looked at a bunch of your threads and saw how to engage the 4x4 lol, so i went outside just now and had some friends look at the front tires to see if they spun (we have a ton of snow in our parking lot) but still nothing. but dude you have TONS of helpful info on those links. i really appreciate it!
