It shouldn’t really be that tight. Try wrapping a large rag tightly around it. Otherwise, you’re going to have to grab it with a set of channel locks or a strap wrench.

Welcome to this forum! A strap wrench won't damage the cap but might slip if it's super tight. Do you have the factory cap or an aftermarket cap?
