Hello all.

I just recently wrecked my ford focus. and am now in the market for a new vehicle. the ford explorer sport track has peaked my interest. I am looking at an 03 or newer. is there anything I should be on the look out for? any common problems, any particular model that is better than the others, 4x4 or 2x4 which engine?

all help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum! 4x4 is usually considered better, more capable, but that doesn't always matter.

Welcome to this forum! 4 X 4 is a must for off roading, and driving in areas which have a lot of snow. 2WD is better on gas mileage, lighter, and has less moving parts to fail.

Thank you for the replies. If I buy one of the sport trac's I will look for a 4 x 4. is there anything else I should look for? I want to use the truck for some towing as well. small trailer with a sand rail and possibly a quad in the bed.

The V8 is recommended for towing.

welcome. damn that sux about your slocus, i went trough the same thing wrecked my focus now i have an exploder. my advice is go with 4X4 great in the snow and mud.
