Hello Explorer owners. I joined because I own a 2994 Ford Explorer and am having a problem with the paint on the leading edge of the hood. It is bubbling
off. The dealer nor ford will help as it has 56000 miles and they say no warrantee or recall are available. An independent auto body shop tells me the metal is bad and they will not paint the hood, I must buy a new one. has anyone else had this problem and or know how to get this fixed?

my mom has the 3rd gen and she hasnt had any problems. but my friends mom has an 05 and it started bubbling and peeling on the roof but ford told them it was the paint so idk. but if it is the hood you could prolly get a new one for pretty cheap

I don't know why you would need a new hood for that. It sounds like it needs to be repainted but I'll let someone else chime in with some more experience.

Welcome to this forum! Rust has to be sanded, primed, and then painted.
