2002 Ford Explorer xlt
I own a 2002 Ford Explorer xlt , truck has 170,000 miles I maintain it well. I’m now experiencing a problem with it. It takes a long time to shift from first it use to stick with 2.500 rpms to shift but now since the 4x4 high light flashed it takes 3-4000 rpms to shift. Also when I press the 4x4 buttons nothing show up on gauge someone please help

The flashing means there’s a stored code. Getting them scanned will tell you where to focus on.

Count the flashes , and that is your code .

Do you know what I could be though ? I literally had no problem until now my truck shifts in high rpm’s . The light flashes a couple times than goes away

It could be a lot of things. It’s like the Check Engine light, it’s there to help you avoid chasing your tail and throwing money at stuff. Is your ABS light on?

I had the flashing 4x4 hi light .
Counted the flashes , and I had 7 or maybe it was 8 flashes .
Then it quits for a moment , and flashes again .
I had a bad transmission , it was failing , not shifting to 2nd or 3rd gear , so sorry I cant remember .
I replaced the transmission with a low mile used unit .
I then ended up with an abs light on , a d the transfer case was shifting the truck into 4 hi.
Turned out to be the sensor on the front of the transfer case.

Yes but it was on before this started happening

If your ABS light is on you could have issues with your wheel speed sensors. I’d get it scanned or count the 4wd light flashes and report back.
