I need some insight about the front drivers seat in the Ford Explorer.

I currently own a 93 Explorer... that I love. But sadly I will be force to part with over high miles. Prior to this 93... I had a 91. I really have loved these trucks.

One of the reasons I always loved this truck is it is so roomy. I am 6'0 - female... and I have issue's with not having enough leg room - head room in the newer Explorers. (2000 and newer) I can't sit in the drivers seat without my head crammed up on the ceiling. And in general just feeling squished.

Okay... no laughing... I am so stressed out over this issue.

Would any of you know if the dimensions in the 1996 Explorer-Eddie Bauer's have the same room that the 91-94 Explorer's have? Or is the interiors of them as cramped up as the 2000's? Did Ford make changes in the 95-96 trucks that took away from the drivers seat area?

I have found a gorgeous 96 Eddie Bauer that I want.... but it is over 90 minutes away... and I don't want to drive out to it... if I can't fit in the dang seat... I would like to know if I need to skip looking at it... if the truck had changed drastically from the 91-94 seats and they lack the room to move around in like the earlier versions.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

I'm not really sure about the dimensions but I have a 92, 94 and 98 Explorer and had a 93 EB. I feel there is more head room in the 98 than my 94/92 as far as from door to door they are really close. I have seen a 1st gen explorer with a complete 2nd gen interior, dash, seats, console etc.

I am only about 5'9", but I have plenty of headroom in my 95. I usually keep the seat at the highest level too. The seat is power with an up/down adjustment. One of my roommates, who is pushing 7' does fine in the non height adjustable passenger seat.

An Eddie Bauer will have a power driver's seat with a height adjustment. Play around with that when you look at the truck. I bet you will find a position you like. My seat goes LOW when all the way down.
