Help a widow out (please?) -- rear shocks Ford Explorer 2000

Well, cr*p. The shop
told me that the brand isn't as important as finding shocks that have the air leveling hoses/system found in the 2000 Ford Explorer Limited. They haven't found the part. Wondering if it will throw a code/alert if using regular shocks on the rear and if you guys do opt for the nonleveling shocks. If it's not one thing, it's the other, eh... Dang, I just want this job done. Feeling frustrated this morning. Oh well.
if you still want some form of levelling monroe i bieve and gavriel maybe make air shocks you can pump up

Definitely agree to just replace with conventional shocks.
 






Delete the air ride and air shocks
It’s not working anymore anyway basically the shop can install regular shocks on your truck and just throw the air ride stuff away

There is a switch in the rear cargo area to turn the system off if the compressor still runs and works

The old air ride shocks were okay but really not needed and the system can be expensive to keep in working order

We always just throw that stuff away and use regular shocks
I looked in the cargo area and could not find anything that looks like a switch. Where the heck is it? Why was the self-leveling shocks used and what do I lose if I don't use them? Probably a mute question as I have to find them for sale.
 












It’s expensive, and doesn’t yield much. Later models had an “off-road” mode that would lift the rear an extra 2 inches. It’s also attempt to keep the rear level if you had a lot of weight in the cargo area.

The switch should be in the left under that cover so the two twist locks I believe.

I too, would just get rid of it and use normal shocks.
 






one of the things that's good when it works, but as it ages can quickly become problematic and another thing to add to the headache list ;)

Cool. OK, I've gone with Monroe and turning off the leveling. You guys are great! I'm so happy that this forum exists. Hate going into a shock as an uneducated about cars woman.... THANK YOU
 






Question for the more knowledgeable forum guys, Do the 5.0s with air ride have the 5th shock?

Cr*p. Now there is moisture getting into my driver-side rear light housing and the electrical outdoor socket in front of the house has no power. Gawd. Life seems to be all about fixing what broke and working to pay for it. At least I'm laughing!

You have your rear wiper water reservoir next to that rear light, so that could be leaking down into light housing....or did it just rain there recently? ....and poor seal issue...

"in FRONT of housing" ? I assume the parking light is not working in that now....someone tested for power and got nothing...? So the fuse probably shorted, so once dried out put in new fuse in Position 30..... 15 amp fuse.
This fuse box sits on very left edge of your dashboard...next to drivers door. The inner side of it's cover should have a fuse remover / "tweeser" snapped onto it...if not get a pair of needle nose pliers and pull that fuse to see if burned out.

I suspect she means, her house electrical socket... everything breaking at once!

I had an outdoor outlet that was tripping when it rained. It was on a ground fault circuit and the outlet gasket had shrunken, was letting water in. Funny thing is, the reason I realized it happened was that on the same ground fault circuit, I had a cable (internet/TV) line amp's power supply, and when it tripped, the amp could not transmit upstream so the internet connection went out.
 






The rear reservoirs were gone after 96 (possibly still on 97’s but I don’t think so)

The outlet on the house is very possibly a GFCI tripped. The outlet upside might be downstream. If you have other outside outlets check those for a reset. Sometimes the get tied into garage outlets as well.
