For a long time now the right front speaker in my Sport has not played at the same volume as the rest of the speakers. When I fade it to the front I can't hear anything from the right side. I thought it was the speakers so I just replaced them and the problem is still there. I assume that it is either the stock amp or the HU. If anyone has encountered this problem let me know.

is ur balance messed up?

Well actually I'm having the same problem except that its my passenger side rear speaker. The other three play louder than the one. So, I took it to Circuit City yesterday to see if they can diagnose the problem. They said it was either the speaker or that the wire was hitting metal between the HU and teh speaker. Well I got my speakers replaced for free and got a little bit better ones. Fixed the problem for a day but guess what, the same thing is happening. So maybe the wire is hitting metal somewhere. I'm not going to worry about it since it's in the back but for you, you might want to have that looked at/fixed.

Not sure ,but it sounds like a short or it could just be blown! As for 1995, my rear passenger is doing the same thing. There are times when it just will hiss(sounds like the ocean!)at low volume, but then it will kick in and be fine. It may be a short or getting ready to blow. I will probably replace it soon. If you guys find out whats up, be sure to post !

It may be caught on the power windows. Just pop the panel off and check and see how far the wire sticks out than try rolling up and down window if it gets caught on something thats the problem. Make sure that no wire is exposed too just electrical tape it again. You dont want it to short out something

I had this same problem. I thought it was blown so I replaced all the speakers. That didn't work. I wasn't bummed because I was going to replace them anyway. Next, I thought it was the factory amp so I got an amp bypass harness. No such luck. So I pulled my HU out one day and in the square shaped harness that contains speaker wires, a plug was slightly pulled out of the harness. I pushed it in all the way and magically all of the speakers worked perfectly. Hope that helps.

i had a similar situation with my rf spaeker... it would work fine occassionally...... eventually after replacing the speakers, i found that the speaker harness in the door itself was damaged..... i cut the wires and soldered the connectinos... no more problems....

I have replaced the front speakers and checked the wiring in the door. I have pulled the head unit and looked at the wiring harness but I did not examine it closely enough to see if the wires were all pushed in as far as they should be. I will check that out. Thanks

To Jarret008:

Your speaker has probably just come slightly disconnected. What's happening is that the connections are bumping around and loosening up. All you gotta do is snug them back up. This is a common problem if you have replaced the factory speakers yourself and used something like electrical tape instead of crimping the wires together.

Thanks I will check out the HU connections and the speaker soon. Also they are still the stock speakers (I guess? It's used.) A loose connection makes sense, since it doesn't happen all the time, or at least I don't hear it when I turn it up! ;)

I have checked the harness at the HU and when I replaced the door speakers I used female spade connectors and crimped those in place so I know that is not the issue.

I would like to check the factory amp but I don't know where it is. If anyone can tell me where the amp is located I would really appreciated it.

Thanks

The amp is located underneath the huge trim panel by the passenger side rear quarter window! have fun! its a pain to get out(IMO)

The speaker started working again today for the first time in a very long time. I don't know what to do with it. I suppose for now I will just let it go unless I feel like ripping the interior apart one day.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
