I have a 2004 Explorer Sport Trak with a little over 50k miles on it. For the last few weeks, very sporadically, my brake light would come on and usually go off after 30 seconds TOPS. Well today, my wife was driving home from work (about a 30 mile drive) and the light would not go off. Furthermore, the passenger front wheel was slightly locking up making the truck pull towards the ditch. I could tell it was the front passenger wheel because it had a mass amount of brake dust on it and the other 3 rims where clean. After doing a little checking here, I found that if the brake fluid needs to be topped off that that could be part of the problem for the brake light.
Here's my question; would a lack of brake fluid cause the truck to lock up, specifically on the front passenger side wheel? I did fill up the reservoir (which was about half empty) and it has not done it since. But again, this problem was very sporadic in the first place.
I just noticied I posted this in the modified forum. However, this is not a modified truck.
